My kids are still little, so they still love playgrounds…and thankfully we live in an area that has a lot of playgrounds and splash parks to choose from! Sarasota has a whole bunch of adorable playgrounds – check out this big list of parks and playgrounds in Sarasota so you can decide which one you want to visit. There are lots of things to do in Sarasota, but when the weather is nice out, there’s nothing easier and more pleasant than a park day.
So while out exploring one week, we found the cutest playground in Sarasota…I feel like a I say that every time we find a new playground, but seriously this one is awesome! It’s so different from any other playground I have visited in this area.
The playground is called Paine Circus Park and it’s near the main city buildings in the heart of Sarasota. As you may have guessed, it’s a circus theme! It’s huge! And of course, it’s a lot of fun things to do for the kids.
I always like to do pros and cons, so readers get a fair representation of each playground we visit and although I think this is the coolest playground there were some cons you should probably know about before going…so here we go…
Things we loved about Paine Circus Park in Sarasota
Paine Circus Park is unique!
This isn’t your typical playground! Like I mentioned before, it has a circus theme so it has all kinds of fun climbing structures, mazes, and other fun things that make you feel like you are at or even IN the circus. It’s so cute.
I think Charlie’s favorite part was pretending he was riding an elephant.
There is a lot of space and it is only one way in and one way out.
I love gated play areas for toddlers. It’s such a relief knowing that if you lose sight of your child (which can happen so easily in a big playground, especially if you have multiple children), they are still in the playground area. This playground is huge so chances are that you will lose track of the kiddos, but just keep an eye on that front entrance while trying to locate them!
There are seats and tables
Go for a picnic! There are lots of places for parents and grandparents to sit and eat or just relax while the kids play. I’m sure you could probably rent out space for a birthday party too, but you would have to contact Sarasota County Parks and Rec to set that up.
They have Misting Fans
This is the coolest feature of this park in my opinion (no pun intended- get it, “coolest”?!). It gets hot in Sarasota, am I right?! So when these misting fans turned on, I thought that was pretty neat. It’s like we are at Disney World!
There are fun parts of the park for younger children too
If you have really little kids, there are few cute spots you can take them so that they don’t climb the big playgrounds and get trampled over.
There is a neat, gravel bike path!
I say it’s a pro but it’s actually a neutral thing. It’s a little difficult for the kids to bike on a dirt path in my opinion. But it’s a really neat concept and I like that the park is surrounded by this path. Has really pretty trees and bushes too. You have to cross the path to get to the park (also not wheelchair friendly, just FYI).
Things we didn’t like about Paine Circus Park in Sarasota
Paine Circus Park is huge!
I know I put that as a pro, what it can also be a con. I hate when I have to do follow the kids all around because I’ll lose sight of them if I stay sitting.
The bathrooms are impossible to find!
My daughter had to go potty and we could not find the bathrooms anywhere. It took us like 15 minutes and I still don’t even know where we found them!
No handicap parking
My 93 year old grandpa came with us to the park and I needed a handicap parking spot for him and there weren’t any offered near the playground. I actually can’t believe this!
Overall we really liked Paine Circus Park and we will be back again. It was very busy when we were there and we were there in the heat of the day when I didn’t think a lot of people would be there, so I imagine when it’s cooler it’s probably packed. Something to think about.
Here are a few more of our pictures of our fun play time at this park…
Paine Circus Park is located at 2110 Adams Lane in Sarasota.
