How to file school papers using the HP Sprocket

My daughter is only in kindergarten and already the papers are piling- PILING up! I find homework sheets, artwork and other papers all over the house. So, I decided it was time to start organizing these mounds of school papers.

I also just got a brand new HP Sprocket and so I thought it would be fun to incorporate this photo printer with my filing.

I had to come up with a good system for filing school papers, so this is what I came up with….

Here’s what you need:

  • File box
  • Green hanging folders
  • Manilla folders to go inside the green folders.
  • HP Sprocket

I used these printables to mark each manilla folder with the grade and then used the sub headers “artwork,” “papers,” and “report cards.” This way each grade’s papers have a little organization.

This is a great way to go through at the end of each year and keep only the papers that are really special and important. Otherwise you can be overwhelmed with papers and have bins and bins by the time your child is done with high school.

I used the HP Sprocket 2-in-1 to print out pictures of my daughter and add them to the front of each grade’s file. It’s a cute way to add an extra memento to the files. It’s so easy to use too. Just install the Sprocket app to your phone, grab the pictures you want and it prints them to your Sprocket photo printer right then and there. Plus the pictures are actual stickers, so just peal off the back and stick it to the folder. Super easy!

I would love to hear the ideas you have for filing school papers in the comments! Happy Organizing!

  1. I have heard a lot about the HP Sprocket. This is a great idea. I have 2 boys so I have a hanging wooden organizer on my wall that I have place all those papers in throughout the year. I empty it every quarter!
