We finally snuck away from the kiddos (and left them with a babysitter of course) and did a double date with my best friend and her husband. We decided to keep it casual and do a picnic dinner at the South Jetty on Venice Island. I haven’t been there in years. To be honest, I couldn’t even remember where it was or what it looked like. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful atmosphere. It was the perfect place for a picnic Date Night!
The South Jetty is on the south end of Venice Island. There are plenty of places to park and then you can walk out on the jetty and look out at the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. All of the inter-coastal waterways empty out right there at the south jetty so you see a lot beautiful water. We also saw dolphins and I even saw a sting ray jump! It was really cool.
You can also fish off of the jetty if you like doing that. Just be careful when casting your line- a fisherman almost hooked me- for realsies!
This is the perfect way to do a cheap, but nice date night. We picked up subs on the way which are very inexpensive or you can pack a picnic right from home. Very inexpensive. But very fun!
