We started a point system with Maggie to help navigate her behavior. Every time she did something good, something nice without being asked, etc. we would give her a point. The end goal was that if she earned 50 points, she would be able to go to Build-A-Bear Workshop. It took her a couple months but she earned her points and we got to experience Build-A-Bear Workshop for the first time!
If you have never had the pleasure of taking your kids to build their own bear- it is actually a ton of fun….and not that expensive either. (Sidenote: this post is not sponsored, so I am giving you my honest opinions as I always do). I thought for sure we were going to spend a ton of money there, but the stuffed animals Maggie and Charlie picked out were on sale and even the ones that weren’t were fairly reasonable.
Maggie loves the YouTube show, Ryan’s Toy Review, and he got a Sonic the Hedgehog at Build-A-Bear once, so she wanted a Sonic doll. It just so happened that Sonic was on sale! Yippee! So we were able to spend extra money on accessories. Charlie got a Star Trek bear (also on sale) with the encouragement of his daddy who is a major Star Trek fan.
The first step in making your own Build-A-Bear is picking out the one you want. The stuffed animal is not yet stuffed, so you kind of pick out the “body” if you will. Then you head over to the stuffing machine. The people who work there helped us pick out a heart and let Maggie and Charlie help use the stuffing machine to stuff their animals. It’s very cute!
After the animal is stuffed and sewed up, the kids cleaned them and then picked out clothes and accessories. Such a fun process.
I highly recommend Build-A-Bear. The staff is great and the experience is a lot of fun. You can host birthday parties there too! There is a Build-A-Bear Workshop at Coconut Point Mall in Estero (23191 Fashion Drive Estero, FL).
Coconut Point is a fun mall for adults and kids! We love the play area there. Check out our pictures of Coconut Point play place here.
Have fun building your own stuffed animal!
