We recently drove past this beautiful park and I immediately was excited to take the kids! I actually googled “pretty park on the water in Port Charlotte” to figure out which park it was.
Our first visit to Bayshore Live Oak Park was a few weeks ago and we had a very nice time. There were a lot of things the kids and I loved about it, and there were also a few things we didn’t like. So here is a list of pros and cons about Bayshore Live Oak Park00
Pros of Bayshore Live Oak Park
It’s right on the Peace River which makes for a beautiful backdrop when the kids are playing. We went in the evening so we caught some of the sunset. Very pretty!
The playground was fun
The kids loved the equipment, swings, and the random cow you can climb on. Not really sure why there was a cow, haha, but none the less, the kids loved it. I like the cool swing they had and so did the kids…
The pier was a blast. You can walk on it and look at the water, look for dolphins, etc. It was very windy and my kids were kind of scared, but I loved walking on the pier.
There is a mini Beach area
There is a little, and I mean little beach area that the kids can play on with sand toys. Be careful of the rocks though. My kids wanted to walk on the rocks and I was nervous that they would slip and fall.
The restroom facility was very nice. A public bathroom for sure but it wasn’t super dirty and we felt safe.
The park is right by the road. There is only a small sidewalk that separated us from the road. No fence or anything…which made me super nervous.
There really isn’t anything you can do about this, but we had a bunch of older kids playing tag and knocking the little ones over. As a mom, that can be frustrating.
There was an event going on in the pavilion next to the park that made my family uncomfortable, so we just packed up and left. Just bad timing- nothing against the park itself.
