With the announcement of the gender of baby #2 around the corner, I decided to share how we announced baby #1!
*I apologize for the lower quality photos, this was before my blogging days and I didn’t know I’d be sharing these pics with you all!*
My husband and I had no wishes one way or another, just wanting a healthy little one at that ultrasound, over 3 years ago, now! Once we were there, the tech asked if we wanted to know or if we were keeping it a surprise. We were not that patient! We wanted to know! I had been told my nearly everyone I must be having a girl, based on some old-wives tale or another, so I started to believe it myself. When she said it was a boy, I looked up at my husband who had a huge smile on his face! He said he didn’t realize until that moment how much he really did want a boy. I know this sounds bad, but I was excited that everyone had been wrong. It just meant they would be REALLY surprised when we did our reveal!
We knew we didn’t want to do something too cliché, and once we had the idea of putting candy into a piñata, we knew that was it! We had to find something gender neutral, so as not to raise any suspicions beforehand. We both are huge monkey fans, so once we found this piñata, it was the one. Even better, it was a pull string-type, rather than the kind you hit with a stick, so all of our family could be involved in the process.
My handsome husband and our Curious George piñata.
We found these specific “It’s a Boy!” Hershey Kisses at Party City! They were fairly expensive so such a small bag, so we just bought one bag of those, and some other candy that came in blue wrappers, and filled up our pinata – with everything blue!
Here we are, gathered together, each with a different string. I counted down “3, 2, 1, Pull!” and the blue-wrapped candies rained down. We had a blast!
