This week my grandpa celebrated a milestone. A milestone that not most people get to celebrate. He turned 90 years old! So the big question for me was, “what in the world do you get someone who is turning 90?!” Really, ya’ll! This was a tough one.
So Maggie and I decided to get our craft on and create a homemade, special birthday gift for my grandpa.
We created a booklet called “90 things we love about Big PapPap!”
Each page was numbered and had one thing that we love about my grandpa. Some of them….well, most of them, I came up with, and some of them Maggie came up with. Hers were pretty obvious.
#7 was “I love that Big PapPap plays playdough with me.”
#17 was “He goes to the store with me.”
Maggie’s were pretty cute. I came up with lots about his personality and his humor, how he loves God, and has lots of friends. There are so many things we love about him that it wasn’t hard to come up with ideas.
We used scrapbook paper and printed out our list once it was complete. Then I cut each thing that was printed and glued it to the scrapbook paper. I also found pictures that went along with some of the things we loved.
For example, one thing that we love about him is that he is a good cook, so I added a picture of him and I cooking in the kitchen.
There are so many different things you can do with a book like this. Make it unique to who you are giving it to. Maybe use their favorite color when using scrapbook paper. Add pictures that are fun and significant to what you are saying.
