This fun and free color matching printable for kids teaches colors and color words, by having kids match various fruits to their corresponding colors.
I absolutely love a good laminated file folder game. I love that I can easily reuse them again and again. They are also so easy to organize thanks to the handy dandy tab feature. I especially LOVE file folder games that are just print and paste, becasue it just doesn’t get any easier than that. The game below is one that I’m sure your little learner will love as well!
Color Matching Printable: A Fun Fruit Game
- fruit color match printable
- glue stick
- file folder (optional)
- laminator (optional)
- 3 laminating pouches (optional)
To Set Up The Game:
After printing the activity, use the scissors to cut out the fruit and the file folder label.
Then, trim the color card pages so that they easily fit onto the file folder. After trimming, glue them down using a regular glue stick.
Next, glue the file folder label onto the file folder tab.
Finally, if desired, laminate all the pieces to the game. After laminating, cut out the fruit cards again, leaving a 1/4 inch of laminate all around. Cutting out the fruit prior to laminating and again after will help the lamination adhere by forming a tightly sealed edge around the perimeter of each card. You definitely don’t want to cut corners on this.
To Play The Game:
To play the game simply mix up the fruit cards and place them in a pile on the table. Then, have your child match each fruit to the corresponding color box on the file folder.
If your child is ready to work on learning color words, after placing the fruit, have them touch the color word and say the name aloud. You can also have them identify the letters in the word.
If your child is not ready for sight words, they can simply practice letters by identifying any letters they recognize in the color words as they go along.
